APPLICATION FOR WIDOW'S PENSION
Questions for Applicant
STATE OF TENNESSEE, Knox County. Mary C. McKeehan of
said State and County, desiring to avail herself of the pension allowed to Indigent Widows
of Soldiers, under Act of General Assembly, approved April 1905 being Chapter 202 of the
Acts of 1905, and Senate Bill No. 41, Acts of 1909, hereby submits her proofs, and after
being durly sworn true answers to make to the following questions, deposes and answers as
follows:
1. What is your full name and address? Mary C. McKeehan

2. How long and since when have you been a resident of this state? Three
years and nine months
3. When and where were you born and what was your maiden name? Roane County
Tennessee Mary C. Sylar
4. When and where was your husband born--state his full name, and when and where
were you and he married, and who performed the marriage ceremony? (Attach certified
copy marriage license in every case) In Munroe County Haywood Alexander McKeehan
in 1852. ???? Lewis. Marriage Licens was burned up in Harrison, Hamilton
county now James county.
5. When and where in what Company and Regiment did your husband enlist or serve
during the war between the States? 1861 James Co. Co. B 1st Tennessee Calv.
6. How long did your husband serve in said Company and Regiment? from 1861
to surrender
7. When and where did your husband's Company and Regiment surrender? May
1865 Washington GA
8. Was your husband present at the time and place when his Company and Regiment
surrendered? he was

this time. Five Three Boys and Two Girls Girls both dead 36 and
48 and 51--

STATE OF TENNESSEE, Knox County. W. W. McKeehan of said State
and County, having been presented as a witness in support of the application of Mrs.
Mary C. McKeehan for a pension under Chapter 202, Acts of 1905, and Senate bill No.
41, Acts of 1909, and after being duly sworn true answeres to make to the following
wuestions, deposes and answers as follows:
1. What is your name and where do you reside? W. W.
McKeehan, 233 E. Oldham st., Knoxville, Tennessee
2. Are you acquainted with the applicant, Mrs. Mary C. McKeehan. If so
how long have you known her? about 51 years.
3. Where does she reside, and how long and since when has she been a resident of
this State? resides in Chattanooga. Three years & nine months.
4. When and where was she born? I do not know
5. Were you ever acquainted with her husband? yes sir
6. When and by whom were they married? I dont know
7. Were either or both of you present at the marriage? no sir
8. How long did you know him? about 50 years
9. When and where did 61 Hamilton Co enlist in the war between the States,
and in what Company and Regiment did he enlist, and how do you know this? Co. B.

this of your own knowledge? nothing except a Mecicins Pensions

Dear Sir: Mrs. Mary C. McKeehan who is an applicant for pension under the Tennessee
Widows Pension Law, claims that her husband Alex McKeehan was a member of Company B
Regiment 1 Tenn Cav Col. Carter CSA. Please give us the record of this soldier.

October 22, 1910. Respectfully returned to the President, Tennessee Board of Pension
Examiners, Nashville.
The records show that A.H. McKeehan, corporal, Company B, 1st Tennessee Cavalry,
Confederate States Army, enlisted August 7, 1861. There are no rolls of the company
on file in this office subsequent to the date of his enlistment. A return for June,
1862, shows him absent without leave since June 1, 1862. No later record of him has
been found.

Mr. F. A. Moses. Dear Sir. Will you pleas inform me if you recd any mail from
me last Oct. I wrote you concerning my state pension at Knoxville and haven't heard
anything from you. Will you pleas look this up for me let me know if I am entitled
to that pension pleas let me hear from you at once. Respect. Mrs. M. C.
